Healthland Performs Highest in New KLAS Report Exceeding All Vendors in 50-Bed-and-Under Hospital Market

Healthland dedicated to helping the 50-bed-and-under hospital market achieve “meaningful use” and qualify for stimulus funds

GLENWOOD, Minn., August 10, 2009 - Healthland, America's market leader of healthcare information solutions for small community and critical access hospitals, today announced that a new KLAS report ranks the IT provider the highest in performance and customer satisfaction, exceeding all other vendors in the 50-bed-and-under hospital market. According to the report, Closing the IT Gap: Critical Access to 50 Bed Hospitals © 2009 KLAS Enterprises, LLC., Healthland’s score illustrates its constant and predictable performance across regions, departments and hospital sizes in the small community hospital segment.

The report, released in July 2009, contains data from interviews of over 300 healthcare professionals at community hospitals with 50 beds or less. KLAS, an independent research firm specializing in monitoring and reporting the performance of healthcare vendors, also reported that Healthland scored higher than all other vendors in 34 of the 39 KLAS measures - with the highest marks in the areas of executive involvement, delivery of new technology, training and proactive service.

“Hospitals are looking for vendors that will deliver strong clinical functionality, including physician and nursing documentation, bar coding at the point of care and CPOE,” said Paul Pitcher, author of the KLAS report. “All of these items will collectively help clients improve outcomes while achieving meaningful use, and thereby qualify for stimulus funds ... As the current customer satisfaction leader in this space, Healthland has the opportunity to bring their client base up to meaningful use over the next couple of years, preparing their clients to receive stimulus funds.”

Findings of the KLAS report also state:

  • Healthland outperforms competitors in the majority of areas KLAS uses to gauge customer satisfaction
  • Healthland is well suited for critical access facilities, demonstrating a significant number of implementations in this segment of the healthcare market
  • With the highest percentage of all the vendors in the report, 87 percent of Healthland clients would buy Healthland again and 85 percent would recommend buying Healthland to a friend

“We are extremely pleased and proud of the results in the recent report by KLAS - one of the most respected research organizations in health information technology,” said James Burgess, president and CEO of Healthland. “These latest findings prove that we are not only the leader in market share for small community and critical access hospitals, but also the leader in customer satisfaction and overall performance in the 50-bed-and-under hospital market. But more importantly, it demonstrates our commitment to small community hospitals and our ability to help them navigate through this challenging environment of increased IT regulations and new requirements as it relates to meaningful use.”

The recent KLAS report also included commentary from each vendor’s current client base. Healthland found its clients’ reports offered positive feedback in the areas of quality technical support; customer-oriented service; product usability and ease of use; and an improved organizational development.

In addition to ranking highest for customer service and overall performance, Healthland received the highest percentage of positive commentary when respondents were asked about the “future outlook” of Healthland. These findings are evidence to Healthland’s claim that it is well-positioned in the marketplace for long-term growth as it strives to transform community healthcare.
