Healthland Furthers Commitment to Help Community Hospitals Navigate Healthcare IT Requirements Under American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
Company to host seminars in Minnesota, Texas, Louisiana beginning this week
GLENWOOD, Minn., June 23, 2009 - Healthland, America's market leader of healthcare information solutions for small community and critical access hospitals, today announced another step to provide rural hospitals and physicians with tools and services to help them maneuver through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). Beginning in Minnesota on June 24, 2009, Healthland will host seminars for small community and critical access hospitals to help explain details surrounding the stimulus act including qualification guidelines for incentive payments. The program’s venues also include Baton Rouge, Louisiana on June 25, 2009 and Irving, Texas on July 14, 2009.
“Immediately after the ground-breaking stimulus bill was passed, we formed a Healthland ARRA committee,” said James Burgess, president and CEO of Healthland. “Our goal was to take a proactive role and become a resource for our customers and - over the past three months - we’ve made great steps toward achieving that goal. This seminar program provides expert advice on the ARRA legislation as well as feedback from healthcare providers in the trenches. I’m confident it will be a few hours well spent.”
Healthland’s Stimulus and EHR Seminars are the latest in the organization’s program to help its customers and prospects prepare for new healthcare IT provisions and gain funding for EHR (Electronic Health Record) solutions. The seminars will include a presentation from stimulus expert and partner at McDermott Will & Emery, Heidi Echols. She will provide an overview of the ARRA and discuss opportunities that enable healthcare providers to take full advantage of stimulus incentives outlined in the legislation. She will also provide updates from the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) and Health & Human Services (HHS) in regard to “meaningful use” and other recent changes to the ARRA policies and standards.
In addition, the event will include a Healthland EHR product demonstration; a customized report of anticipated incentive payments; and advice from EHR adopters.
“We continue to monitor the activity surrounding the ARRA and will bring additional tools and services to help inform and educate our customer and prospect base,” added Burgess.
