Critical Access Hospital, Randolph Medical Center, Improves Patient Care
with Easy-to-Use EHR and Single Patient Chart from Healthland

Rural Alabama Healthcare Provider reports increased efficiencies
and cost savings with EHR

GLENWOOD, Minn., October 6, 2010 - Healthland, America's market leader of healthcare information solutions for rural community and critical access hospitals, today announced Randolph Medical Center has successfully implemented the Healthland Electronic Health Record (EHR) solution.   Randolph Medical Center, a 25-bed, critical access hospital, located in Roanoke, Ala., has increased productivity and improved patient care with the Healthland single patient chart that can be accessed across multiple healthcare settings.

“As soon as we implemented the Healthland Electronic Health Record solution at Randolph Medical Center, we saw a massive spike in our efficiency in terms of patient care,” said Randolph Medical Center CEO, Michael Parsons. “On the business side, capturing financial information has been a blessing with the new solution. We are now experiencing 99-percent efficiency in capturing charges.”

Today, Randolph Medical Center is using the Healthland solution in virtually every area of the hospital.  “We’ve implemented almost every Healthland product,” said Michael Tipsword, director of strategic development.  “All the way from the financial suite to the inpatient and ambulatory EHR.”

Hospital officials say the solution’s usability played an important role in the success of their EHR implementation. “It’s the ease-of-use of the Healthland EHR that has helped to improve patient care and positively impact our bottom line,” said Parsons. “As far as usability goes, the Healthland solution is very user-friendly and self-explanatory.”

“EHR is good for patient care and safety,” said Dr. Singleton, M.D., Randolph Medical Center. “We’re now more efficient with our rounds. I also have easy access to different disciplines involved in patient care and I can get the information I need quickly.”

“Buy-in from hospital staff - particularly physicians - is essential as hospitals look to achieve meaningful use,” said Angie Franks, Healthland Senior Vice President of Sales and Market Development. “Randolph Medical Center is a great example of a hospital looking at their needs for the long term and selecting a solution that will allow their hospital to meet meaningful use. The facility was originally using an application from another vendor, but selected Healthland because we aligned with their strategic vision and long term goals. Randolph is now positioned to improve clinical and administrative procedures, streamline operations, reduce costs and improve the quality of patient care.”
