Webster County Memorial Hospital Selects Healthland Solution

Hospital Comes Back to Healthland as it moves toward an Electronic Medical Record

GLENWOOD, Minn., December 16, 2009 - Healthland, America's market leader of healthcare information solutions for small community and critical access hospitals, announced today that West Virginia-based, Webster County Memorial Hospital has selected Healthland in its move toward an electronic medical record (EMR). The 15-bed hospital will begin the first phase of its Healthland EMR implementation with the Patient Accounting system.

“We selected Healthland because we wanted a solution provider with extensive experience in patient account management for a critical access hospital and rural health center,” said Annette Keenan, Webster Springs Hospital Administrator. “We needed a management tool, not just a module to simply register a patient.”

Webster County Memorial Hospital made a decision to leave Healthland several years ago, but re-signed with the company after reviewing its recent product enhancements, organizational changes and future direction. “We are excited to be back with a solution provider that has a renewed focus on meeting the demands of small community hospitals, like ours. We also wanted to partner with a company that we had confidence in as we move toward an electronic medical record system and feel Healthland is the right fit.”

Today, Healthland is a market leader of EMR solutions in the small, rural and critical access hospital community. The Healthland EMR solution enables healthcare providers to quickly and easily access a comprehensive view of demographic, historical and clinical patient information from all care settings within the healthcare system-hospital, clinic, home health and long-term care. The solution also satisfies a fundamental component within the federal government's vision of creating national, interoperable Electronic Health Records (EHRs).

“We expect to see several benefits with our new Healthland solution,” added Keenan. “With the first phase beginning with Patient Accounting, our goal is to reduce AR days and improve cash flow and reporting, while using less paper.”

“We are confident the Healthland solution will bring the functionality that Webster County Memorial needs to thrive in today’s challenging business conditions,” said Angie Franks, Healthland Senior Vice President of Sales and Market Development. “We are starting to see a number of hospitals coming back to Healthland after three-to-five years of trying other clinical information systems. The industry now understands our role in the small community hospital market, as well as our commitment to helping these healthcare facilities prepare and achieve meaningful use under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.”

Based in Webster Springs, W. Va., the hospital expects to go live with the Healthland solution later this month.
